Shores of Indian Lake #6

Her choice. His consequences.

Nurse Sophie Mattuchi has seen a lot of angry patients in the ER, but no one's ever rattled her like Jack Carter. He has no right to blame her for his friend's death. Sophie did everything she could. Didn't she? Yet his accusations sting, and that sets off all kinds of internal alarms. She's never cared this much about any man's opinion of her. But Jack is different. He stirs up feelings. Strong feelings. Guilt. Anger. Attraction. Curiosity. Sympathy. Sophie's definitely not interested in Jack, but even if she was, he'd never forgive her for the decision she made that night in the hospital. Would he?

My Thoughts
Sophie's Path is an exceptional story with deep issue that touches you in a way no other does.
I always love small town romance and this one perfectly described the beauty of Indian Lake. I love reading the characters from another book in the series and how their lives turn out. It's interesting that Ms. Lanigan decided to write Sophie Mattuchi, a woman who was seen as the town flirt. But when I read it from her side, I realized that Sophie never had real interest until Jack Carter.
Jack was a man full of work without enough time for personal life. When an accident that nearly ripped his life and taken his assistant's life, he realized that it was time to repair his life. But he hated Sophie so much for choosing an addict driver that crashed his car over his lively assistant. He wanted to blame her for not doing her job properly even though deep inside he blamed himself for asking his friend to go to the seminar in Chicago.

Sophie Mattuchi is one of the best cardiac surgical nurse and sometimes an ER nurse. She is smart, dedicated and caring. She took care each one of her patient with compassion. She had seen different patient but Jack's anger rattled her. She felt guilt that she shouldn't have, she had done everything she could, didn't she? Sophie tried to reach out to the hospital's drug addict committee, but what they do didn't really help what she wanted to achieve, so against the hospital's rule she did something else to help the addicts.

I admire Frenchie! An adorable dog that gave this two stubborn characters to meet again and some hope.

It's always amazing to read Heartwarming novel. These books delve in many life issues and the heroes and heroines that are less than perfect and how they overcome their issues. One of the thing I learned is that we have to have a motivation if we wanted to achieve something. The motivation for living.
The only suggestion I would say is add a bit more romance between Jack and Sophie.
Sometimes we want to be a hero. Like Sophie, she wanted to save both of her patients at that fateful day. A job in the medical world requires a choice. The choice of life and death. Jack was putting all of his hope on them to save Aleah but they failed. And the questions kept ringing. What if the doctors and Sophia tried to save Aleah first? What if they are faster? The 'what if' will always be there and it broke both of them. This book brought me to tears with Jack's inner struggle and Sophie's issue.

I definitely recommend this book to everyone, whether you're in the middle of struggle or you're just content with your life.

A story of trust, forgiveness, hope, pain, death and love that you will cherish.

    1. This book takes on the very aspect of grief and how people react about it. And the best part of the story is Frenchie. The dog that had been there to save the two clueless souls.
